A Taste of South Dakota

When we were in South Dakota, Anthony and I desired to encounter a close call with a bear. So soon enough there was a sign for Bear Country USA. After seeing that sign we were destined to go. After viewing the beauty of Mount Rushmore, we decided to take a little drive to this bear fiesta. First is a video of Mount Rushmore and the amazement that comes with it. Following that is a glimpse of BEAR COUNTRY!!

That concludes all of our photos and videos for now. Keep checking back for more and of course–Stay Stoked!

Now Wireless

Mike here — I just spoke with Brian; the guys are in Boise, Idaho at a Walmart picking up a USB Wireless adapter for the laptop.  The internet connections out there have been tough to find (being in Yellowstone and all).  Hopefully the wireless adapter will enable them to post a bit more from the road.  Brian has told me that they have seen wireless hotspots all over the place, but the ability to hook up the laptop via ethernet is tough.  With their new Belkin wireless adapter hopefully we’ll see some more regular posts from the guys.

They are planning on hitting the Oregon coast by tomorrow night, according to Brian.  Supposedly there is a nice swell out there now, which the guys want to get a piece of.  He said that they’ve got some great pictures waiting to be uploaded once they can get a good connection — so definitely check back for those.

Brian also said that it was in the 30s last night.  He and Ant woke up at 3am because it was so cold in their sleeping bags.  The two didn’t pack any real winter clothes, so they froze a bit last night.  Hopefully they’ll find some warmer weather out as they go farther west.

Almost to the Coast

West Yellowstone, MONTANA — First off, we would like to apologize for the delay in postings. When on the road it is hard to find places that allow internet and the capability to plug in.

Since our last post, much has happened. We have seen big sites such as Yellowstone National Park, and Mount Rushmore, along with the some nooks and crannies such as Sparta, Wisconsin (the bicycle capital of the US), and Bear Country USA (located in Rapid City, South Dakota). We’ve met some amazing people that were super friendly and real stoked about our bus and trip. On the weather front, we’ve been through a wild wind/rain storm in South Dakota which blew glass doors off of gas stations, and camping through almost freezing degree weather at 7,000 ft elevation. - by the way, neither of us prepared ourselves for this frigid weather (meaning we’ve been wearing the same clothes for the past 6 days, being it’s the only cold gear we have) -

We plan to reach the Oregon coast Sunday June 10th, which means hopeful surf Monday morning. We are both itching to get in the water, and we hear Oregon is a great place to catch good surf. The bus is holding up well, the food is great, and the good times are unforgettable.

We just want to thank everyone who has been checking out the site daily, and who has been commenting. Reading the comments and posts is a little difficult on the road, however we try to get in contact with family from home to read us your kind words - it keeps us going through our long drives, so keep on posting and so will we.  Gracias.

We are having minor trouble uploading vids, and photos - bear with us PLEASEEE.

Finally!!

Madison, WISCONSIN - just sneaked into some Tech College to update the site with vids and photoss…here ya go!

First Post of the Trip!

Hey guys!

We are currently in a library in Indiana, and this computer sucks. We are having minor problems with uploading the many photos and videos we have, but hopefully we will get a good hand on things shortly. Sorry for the delay, but things get pretty difficult to do on the road.

Well…….we departed Sunday morning around 10:15ish and we made our way to Niagara Falls. The drive was not bad at all, the trip to the falls took roughly 8 hours to complete. We stayed in the Niagara Falls KOA, which wasn’t to easy on our wallets but for the first night (and nowhere else to stay) we figured what the hell. We set up camp, attempted a fire, then took a nice 2 hour stroll around the Grand Island TOPS – which was lovely. When we got back to the site, we quickly passed out.

We awoke the next morning, packed up, got on the road, and headed to the falls. Niagara Falls is beautiful-we recommend a trip there. From the falls on the New York side, we went to see the falls on the Canadian side, which is much more open and scenic. When we passed through customs we were stopped and our bus was inspected inside and out. But they found nothing, so we handed some stickers out and were once again on the road.

After Niagara, we traveled as far as we could -through Canada, over the US/Canada border, through Michigan. At around 7:30, we found ourselves out of gas and energy. So we stumbled upon this campsite called Covert Park Campgrounds which was directly on Lake Michigan. There we encountered two of the nicest people we have met on our journey so far.

We made our first meal last night (rice and beans with pepper) and had our first sleep in the bus - due to cold weather. We woke up this morning, made a video update and shoutout that will soon be displayed, and made our way once on the road to this very library where we are updating right now.

Keep on checking in, as we will try our best to update and post as much as possible

Stay Stoked!
